An architect needs to be able to determine the perfect kind of adhesive to use in making parts of their architectural model. With lots of varieties to choose from, it is up to you to choose what kind of adhesive will give a cleaner look. Finding and using the right adhesive is important for every project that you are going to make.

  • Wood glue is used for bonding wood together. It is commonly used for joints that need to hold large pieces of wood.

  • Hot glue is designed to be melted in an electric hot glue–gun. It is capable of bonding different substrates like rubber, ceramics, metal, plastic, glass, and wood.

  • Glue stick is non-toxic and usually used in the office or at school for craft and design. It can stick paper and wood together but is not as strong as other adhesive.

  • Cyanoacrylate is also called “superglue”. Used in industrial, household, and even in medical fields, it is strong and fast-acting adhesive. Some uses CA spray to reduce the bleeding of wounds.

  • Epoxy can be used as a structural adhesive. It can be used for glass, wood, metal, and some plastics. It has better heat and chemical resistance than other adhesives. It can also be used in repairing parts of an automobile, aircraft, etc.

  • Duct tape is a very sticky adhesive tape. It is silvery gray in color. It is strong, flexible, and long-lasting. Duct tape is resistant to weather.

  • Drafting tape is similar but not as strong as duct tape. It has a wide variety of uses. It can be used in technical drawing and helps in keeping the paper in its position, leaving no residue.

  • Double-sided tape is a tape that has adhesive on both sides. It is designed to stick two surfaces together with a neater outcome.

  • Masking tape is a sticky tape made of a thin paper. It is used mainly in painting to cover the areas that should not be painted.

You can prepare three or more kinds of adhesives when you are working on your model. You’ll never know when one can come in handy.
