Ali Alamedy, a budding diorama maker, is known for his skills in creating miniature scenes so intricate and precise that his works are considered as super realistic. There’s no question why he is deemed as such since he dedicates a lot of time on a single project. Mostly, Ali takes inspiration from experiences, the environment around him, and his imagination. Below is a detailed explanation of how Ali works:
The Process of Diorama Making
Step 1: Picking a Subject
Ali mentions that his work comes in several stages. First, he picks out his subject. He says that choosing the subject is the hardest part of the project. He is willing to spend months on a subject, so it must be perfect and suitable. Mostly, his subjects and scenes are from moments that happened in the past. To achieve this, Ali has to do extensive research depending on the elements involved.
Step 2: Working on the Surrounding and the Details
Once Ali has gathered enough information, he proceeds to work on the diorama. This includes the roof, walls, and floor. Once he is satisfied, he furnishes the entire diorama. Every item is made with the same material. He usually uses plastic, metal, and wood since these are the basics.
Step 3: Weathering the Output
After creating the background and the details, Ali makes sure that he starts the weathering process. Here, he arranges each and every item to make the most out of his diorama. This is necessary so that he can capture the essence of the scene.
Where does he get his Inspiration?
Ali states that he can easily get inspired by anything. He can find ideas from pictures, videos, and mostly from his trips to different places.
How long does it take to finish a Project?
It will depend on how the scene is depicted. If it has a lot of details and requires research, it will take more time. Sometimes, Ali will only need 2 months, but if it’s a heavier project, it can reach up to 9 months.
Ali is still actively pursuing his love for dioramas. Even if his degree is Control & Computer Engineering, no one can stop him from creating these wonderful miniatures.
