Although there is a package of materials that we use most of the time, we choose the materials according to the respective project. Before starting the creation of a model, we always think about the materials that are the most suitable to create the project and we consider even the stage of the process.
Here are the materials we often use.
Carton. It can have different colors and finishes. It is easy to cut and shape, so we prefer it for many projects. The multi-layer cardboard is lasting and can easily support other materials and structural elements.
Wood. We use several types of wooden boards to make models. This is a material that is easy to cut, is relatively inexpensive and is found in a wide variety. It is also practical, functional, lasting and easy to work with. It can be easily integrated into many projects to create architectural models.
Foam sheets. These foam sheets can have various thicknesses, are easy to cut and are robust. We often incorporate them in the architectural models that we make according to the project requirements.
Cork. Specifically, we use cork sheets for 3D models. They are more flexible compared to foam boards and are also easy to handle. They are interesting because they can provide a unique texture element.
Metal. When it comes to building structures for architectural models and demonstrating finishes on the model, metal is really an excellent material. We use copper and aluminum, but there are other metals that we can often use.
