About CNC Technology CNC

CNC (computer numerical control) technology is used for cutting and engraving materials by using computer files. Depending on the type of project, thickness and material composition, the surface is modelled with different milling cutters. There is a wide range available for cutting, engraving, conical, rounded, for any type of project, from landform 3D modelling to stamp and mold production.

The milling cutter head moves on three axes, X, Y and Z, of which Z sets the height. Depending on the height, materials of different thickness levels can be chosen. Our workshop can easily cut 10cm-thick materials, and by adjusting the cutter’s head we can work with materials of up to 20cm. This means materials as thick as a tree trunk, or large polystyrene boards.

This technology is used for applications in various fields, including the production of furniture, car parts, wood or stone sculptures, internal or external decorations, or in constructions.
The fact that a milling cutter is used instead of a laser beam has the associated benefits that the edges resulting from the cutting/engraving process are not burnt, and that thicker materials with greater resistance can be used.
In our architectural scale model portfolio we have used the CNC Router technology countless times for topography scale models, or for cutting wood or PVC, thus managing to get remarkable results that are difficult to obtain with any other type of technology. Please find below some of the projects that can be tackled with CNC technology:
